The IP industry like the rest of the semiconductor ecosystem has been under significant stress in the last year and the worldwide economy has collapsed and now is slowly crawling back to life. Fortunately the world needs IP more than ever after slashing employment. That said, there is incredible pressure on IP pricing as semiconductor companies preserve their cash as much as possible while their sales begin to regain stability.
We are seeing increasing very creative business proposals as a result of cash-strapped customers looking for ways to get very valuable IP for the lowest price. I found this very funny You Tube video that is not far off from some of the "offers" we have seen out there. Enjoy.
